important issues facing Southern Nevada

There are many important issues facing Southern Nevada, and as your voice in Carson City, I am firmly committed to the following:

Fighting for lower taxes: We pay enough in taxes, and that is why I have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge to NOT raise your taxes.

Combating Illegal Immigration: We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. We need to enforce those laws.

Delivering safe and affordable healthcare to our citizens: Nevada is 43rd in doctors per capita and has the fewest nurses per capita. We must attract more qualified health professionals to provide essential, safe healthcare to our community.

Advocating for local control of education: We need to grant more authority to teachers to teach our children by expanding charter and empowerment schools, which drive innovation and achievement in the classroom.

Encouraging entrepreneurship and preserving our exceptional business climate:
I believe small businessmen and women should be encouraged to provide jobs, instead of being taxed for every new job they create.

Finding solutions to alleviate our traffic congestion: Traffic costs us all, both in high gas prices and wasted time. Our infrastructure planning must look forward to our anticipated growth, instead of haphazardly reacting to it.

Promoting “smart growth” initiatives: Given our fragile water situation, we need to provide incentives to everyday Nevadans to encourage sensible conservation.
